I spent the majority of my time interning with the special events coordinator Erin Whitlock. Much of my time with her was spent preparing for Grand Prairie's Main Street Fest. This year's event brought in approximately 18,000 people. The first night of the had event inclement weather and had to use the Contingency Plan of Action. While this wasn't the ideal situation, I felt it was a great learning experience. Over the course of my internship I learned more about event coordinating than I thought was possible. Though most of my time was spent with Erin, I was also able to help out in the various recreation centers in the city. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in events and at the recreation centers. If you are looking for a fun place to work and learn this definitely the place to be!
